Quick answer
If the seat height control moves but nothing happens, you haven't reached the cylinder yet. The linkage has some built-in play: the first part of the movement just takes up that slack. Keep turning the control further until it presses on the cylinder, and the seat will go up or down.
Step by step
Move the seat height control through its first bit of free play. This part doesn't do anything yet.
Keep turning it further until you feel it engage the cylinder.
Once it engages, adjust the seat to your desk height.
If the seat still won't move after the control is fully engaged, contact our support team and we'll help.
Also called: seat won't go up, seat won't go down, gas lift, cylinder, piston, height lever not working.
Video transcript
Guys, if you're getting this video, it's because you're having a little problem with your chair going up and down. You're moving the lever and nothing's happening. It moves, and nothing's happening. What you're seeing move is that there's a certain amount of play in the linkage inside the system, which comes back here with a spring that pushes down on the cylinder and makes it go up and down. This movement isn't doing anything yet. All it's doing is applying pressure, and it's getting ready to hit the cylinder. Now you have to turn it up a little more, and that's how you get it to go up.
