Getting your Anthros dialed in takes about 5 minutes and makes a huge difference. Here's the step-by-step:
Step 1: Start with the backrest fully open
Begin with the upper back and pelvis support in their most rearward positions.
Step 2: Adjust the Lower Back Pad (Pelvis Support)
Sit as deep as possible in the seat without the front edge creating pressure behind your knees.
Sit in your most upright posture.
Depending on your height and body type, your position relative to the pelvis support may vary:
Taller users may sit right up against the pelvis support.
Shorter users may sit slightly in front of it.
The goal is for the pelvis support to help hold your pelvis in a neutral position.
Adjustment test:
Try to slouch or roll your pelvis backward.
Gradually turn the dial to bring the pelvis support forward until you are no longer able to tilt your pelvis backward.
For taller users who begin right against the pelvis support, you may not need to bring it forward much—if at all. The key test is whether the pelvis support prevents you from slouching or tilting your pelvis backward.
Step 3: Adjust the upper back support
Remain upright and begin bringing the upper back pad forward.
Once you start to feel it touch your upper back, relax your back muscles and let the chair support you.
The goal is to feel balanced and supported, not pushed forward.
If you feel like you’re reaching for the pad or it’s pushing you forward, adjust it slightly until the support feels natural.
Step 4: Set your tilt mode
Unlock the tilt and adjust the tension for your body weight so the chair can float smoothly between upright and halfway back. This is Free-Float Decompression Mode.
You can also try Locked 5° Decompression Mode by:
Leaning back fully
Locking the tilt
Returning forward until the chair stops at 5°
We recommend longer periods of sitting in either Free-Float or 5° Decompression Mode to reduce the downward pressure of gravity on your spine while sitting.
Step 5: Set your seat height relative to your desk
Bring the chair to your desk and adjust seat height based on desk height, not the floor.
Your desk should be level with your forearms when your elbows are bent at 90°.
If your desk does not lower, raise your seat height to match your desk and use a foot support if needed.
If your desk is adjustable, lower the desk so it matches your forearm height while your feet remain fully supported.
Seat height should be set while sitting in 5° tilt or Free-Float Decompression Mode.
Step 6: Adjust your Armrests
Adjust your arm rests by bringing the pads backward to prevent interference with the desk, then adjust to the same height of the desk. For more narrow users, you can adjust the pads inward or outward to make better contact.
Never allow the armrests to cause hunching of the shoulders.
Tip: Because Anthros supports your pelvis and spine differently than most chairs, it may feel different at first. A free 15-minute posture consult with our licensed therapists can help you quickly dial in your chair and workstation.
